The music on 3rd European Poet of Freedom International Literature Festival - “The New Sounds”

The New Sounds consists of two concerts which are part of the 3rd European Poet of Freedom International Literature Festival. During the concerts we will hear how poetry inspires ingenious Polish composers from both younger and older generation. On March 20th at 20.00 we invite you to Centrum św. Jana for a symphonic music concert, and on March 22nd at 19.00 to the City Culture Institute for Sławomir Kupczak and sultan hagavik duo performance.

Contemporary music inspired by poetry.

In Centrum św. Jana one will hear pieces composed for the vocal, orchestra and piano, performer by the most amazing: Agata Zubel, famous worldwide, award-winning vocalist and composer; AUKSO Orchestra considered to be one of the Europe’s best; Maciej Grzybowski and Piotr Sałajczyk.

Performance: Sławomir Kupczak and sultan hagavik. Free entrance

The sułtan hagavik duo from Wroclaw has been created by Mikołaj Laskowski and Jacek Sotomski since 2011. They represent Polish experimental scene, playing on cassette recorders and using tape alterations effects, such as fast forward and slow motion. Their fourth album, “TDNVH” is available at http://sultanhagavik.bandcamp.com.

 

Sławomir Kupczak is a contemporary music composer, winner of many awards (including 4th place on UNESCO International Composers Tribune in Paris in 2006 in the category of young composers for his piece „Anafora”). Sławomir Kupczak’s compositions were presented on the radio and performed on many concerts and festivals of contemporary music in Poland and abroad (in countries such as France, UK, Italy, Germany, Russia).
